(PUS)


How is the test performed:
A PUS is an ultrasound done with vaginal probe introduced through vagina.

Suitability:
This test is suitable for women with Gynaecology problems

Test Instructions:

  • No need for any pre- test preparation
  • Needs empty bladder (women can go to toilet just before the test )
  • No need for fasting
  • Can be done at any time of menstrual cycle
  • Bleeding is not an issue
  • Tampons must be taken out

Trans abdominal Ultrasound

(TAS)


How is the test performed:
A trans abdominal ultrasound is an ultrasound done through the abdomen.

Suitability:
This test is suitable for women with Gynaecology problems were the woman is virgin and has never had sex before (i.e. teenage) or for pregnancy ultrasounds.

Test Instructions:

  • Woman will need a full bladder
  • If gynaecology TAS then woman is asked to fast (not eat food or drink liqui oter than plain water)
  • It can be done any time during menstrual cycle
  • Bleeding is not an issue

Endometriosis Ultrasound

(EUS)


How is the test performed:
An endometriosis ultrasound is done with vaginal probe introduced through vagina.

Suitability:
This test is suitable for women where emdoemtriosis is  suspected

Test Instructions:

  • Woman need to have empty bladder
  • Preferably fasting
  • Could be done any time in cycle
  • Bleeding not an issue
  • Tampons must be taken out
  • If the women in pain, then preferably to take Panadol or ibuprofen 30 min before the test
